CAM FieldOps Mobile App Privacy Notice

Last updated: September 3, 2026

This notice explains what the CAM FieldOps mobile app collects, why, and who it is shared with. It applies to the CAM FieldOps app for iOS and Android, published by C.A. Murren & Sons Co., Inc. (“CAM”, “we”, “us”).

CAM FieldOps is a private, internal construction-operations app. It is distributed only to CAM personnel and to contractor, client and partner personnel whom CAM has authorized and issued an account. Because its users are CAM employees and other employment-related individuals, this notice — not the general CAM Privacy Notice, which covers visitors to our website — governs the app. Where the two differ, this notice controls for the app.

The short version

  • We collect what the app needs to do its job on a jobsite, and nothing else.
  • We do not track you. The app contains no analytics, advertising, attribution or crash-reporting software of any kind.
  • We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it for advertising. No advertising network, data broker or marketing platform receives anything from this app.
  • We do not use your app data to build a profile of you or to target you with advertising.
  • The app never collects your location in the background. It reads your location only in the moment you take an action that needs it, and only while the app is open in front of you.

What the app collects

Your account and contact information

When you sign in with your work account through Microsoft Entra ID, the app receives your name and email address from your sign-in token, along with your user ID in CAM FieldOps. We use these to identify you, to show who created or approved a record, to route work to you, and to address you in the app.

We do not receive your password. Sign-in is handled by Microsoft; the app never sees your credentials.

The work you create in the app

CAM FieldOps is a system of record for construction work, so it stores what you enter into it:

  • Photos and videos you take with the app’s camera or attach from your photo library, and any markup you add to them
  • Form entries and reports — daily reports, inspections, checklists, safety observations, incident reports, job safety analyses
  • Text you write — issues, RFIs, submittals, correspondence, comments, notes and descriptions
  • Signatures you draw to sign or approve a record
  • Timecards — the hours, cost codes and equipment you record for yourself or your crew
  • Files and documents you upload or mark up

This content is project work product. It is stored in CAM’s systems and is visible to other authorized users of the same project according to your organization’s permission settings.

Location

The app uses your device’s precise location in three places, and only these three:

  1. Photo geotagging. When you take a photo in the app, the app reads your location at that moment and stamps it onto the photo, so progress photos plot to the right spot on the project.
  2. Safety incidents. On a safety or incident report, tapping “Use my location” captures your coordinates so responders and investigators know where the event occurred.
  3. Dig Board GPS capture. When you hold to collect a survey control point on the Dig Board, the app records a stream of GPS fixes and averages them into a single accurate position for that feature.

The app only reads your location while it is open and in front of you. It has no background location capability — background location is switched off in the app’s build configuration, and the app does not request the “Always” location permission. The app cannot and does not track your movements between the moments described above.

Location is optional. If you decline the location permission, or turn it off later in your device settings, the app keeps working: photos are saved without coordinates, and the location controls on safety reports and the Dig Board simply become unavailable.

Your device and push notifications

So the app can send you notifications about work assigned to you, we register your device and store its push token, platform (iOS or Android), device name, app version and OS version.

Push notifications are delivered through Expo’s push notification service, which passes them to Apple or Google for delivery to your device. Turning off notifications for CAM FieldOps in your device settings stops this.

Diagnostics — only when you report a problem

The app has no background crash reporter or telemetry. Diagnostic information is collected at exactly one moment: when you submit feedback or a bug report from inside the app. So we can reproduce what went wrong, that report carries:

  • Your device model, brand, operating system and OS version, and whether it is a physical device
  • The app version and the specific build of the code you were running
  • Your screen dimensions, pixel density and text-size setting
  • Your network state at the time (connected or not, connection type)
  • How many changes were waiting to sync
  • The screen you were on, and the recent screens you moved through before the problem
  • Recent errors the app recorded
  • A screenshot of the screen you were on, which you can remove before sending
  • Your name and email, so we can reply

We use these reports to fix the app. Nothing else.

Camera, photo library and calendar permissions

  • Camera — to take progress photos and attach them to issues, RFIs, safety reports and daily reports. The app uses your camera only while you are taking a photo in the app.
  • Photo library — to attach existing photos to records, and to save photos you take in the app back to your library. The app reads only the photos you pick; it does not scan your library.
  • Calendar — when you add an accepted meeting to your calendar, the app opens your device’s own “add event” dialog with the meeting details filled in, and you confirm it. The app writes the event through that dialog only. It does not read your calendar, and CAM receives no information about your calendar or any other events on it.

How we use what we collect

We use the information above only to operate CAM FieldOps: to run the features you use, to store and share project records with the right people, to notify you about your work, to keep the app secure, to support you, and to fix defects.

We do not use it for advertising, for marketing to you, for profiling, or to make automated decisions about you. We do not use your app content to train artificial intelligence or machine learning models for any purpose beyond the AI features inside CAM FieldOps that you actively use.

Who your information is shared with

Within CAM and your project team. The records you create are visible to other authorized users according to your organization’s permission settings — for example, a daily report is visible to that project’s team.

Service providers who process data on our behalf, under contract, only to deliver the app:

  • Amazon Web Services — hosting, database and file storage for the app, in the United States
  • Microsoft — sign-in and identity (Microsoft Entra ID), using your organization’s own tenant
  • Expo — push notification delivery and app updates
  • Box — storage of project documents, where your project is configured to use it

No one else. We do not sell your personal data. We do not share it with advertisers, ad networks, data brokers, analytics vendors or attribution vendors. The app contains no third-party tracking software.

We may disclose information where the law requires it, to protect the safety of people on our jobsites, or to establish or defend legal claims.

How long we keep it

Project records — reports, photos, timecards, correspondence — are business records of a construction project, and CAM retains them for as long as the project and its contractual, legal and insurance obligations require. Diagnostic reports are kept only as long as needed to investigate and fix the issue. Your device’s push token is deleted when you sign out or uninstall the app.

Your choices

  • Location, camera, photo library, calendar and notifications can each be granted or denied when first requested, and changed at any time in your device settings under Settings → CAM FieldOps (iOS) or Settings → Apps → CAM FieldOps (Android). The app degrades gracefully when a permission is denied.
  • Signing out or uninstalling stops all collection by the app.
  • Access, correction and deletion. Because CAM FieldOps is an employment- and contract-related system, your rights in this data are governed by your employment or contract relationship with CAM and by applicable law. To ask about the personal data the app holds about you, contact us below.

Children

CAM FieldOps is a workplace application. It is not directed to children, is not available to the public, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18.

Changes to this notice

If we change what the app collects or how it is used, we will update this notice and change the date at the top. Material changes will also be communicated through the app or by your CAM contact.
